"Fate Revealed By Design" by Scot Albertson (Jazz Artist from Connecticut(CT))

Another album from Scot Albertson is "Fate Revealed By Design" and it is a wonderful collection of serene and pleasant Jazz songs that pivot around Albertson's wonderfully crooning vocals. "A Man Alone" is a song in which we hear the heartfelt story of a lonely man in which Albertson is accompanied solely by a sweet and charming piano. "You Gotta Taste All the Fruit" is a toe-tapping song in which Albertson sings in almost a Broadway style over playful brass highlights. "It All Depends On You" is a calm, yet upbeat song in which brass, piano, and drums combine for a smooth and silky classic jazz piece. This album is perfect for those who enjoy talented crooners and the art of jazz music. Pick up a copy of "Fate Revealed By Design" today especially if you like refreshing Jazz music featuring strong male vocals.

"With Every Note, A Step..." by Scot Albertson (Jazz Artist from Connecticut(CT))

Scot Albertson's latest CD, "With Every Note, A Step…," finds the crooner hitting his stride with a smart and well-conceived collection of tunes that blend influences ranging from lounge to theater. Opening his 15–song album with a fine medley incorporating Hammerstein and Kern's "The Song Is You" with "As Long As I'm Singing," while closing with an invigorating, jazz-informed performance of Dan Fogelberg's "Part of the Plan," Albertson oozes confidence and the delight of performing. With a jazzman's knack for the gentle art of swing, covers of Spike Jones' hit, "Pass the Biscuits, Mirandy," Frank Loesser's "I Hear Music," and Eubie Blake's "Memories Of You," sound as joyous - and relevant, as they were decades ago. For fans of the great American songbook, and the type of singing that's meant to stir the soul, Scot Albertson's "With Every Note, A Step…" CD continues a musical journey that's part easy listening and part jazz, but completely terrific.

"Millennial Sequence: Jailbreak!" by Tom Lucas (Rock Artist from New York(NY))

Tom Lucas' long-awaited 3rd album(packaging of this CD is available in English, French and German), "Millennial Sequence: Jailbreak!," finds the singer-songwriter returning to the scene after a too-long, 25-year hiatus. With a style that's been referred to as Psych / Folk Rock (but perhaps more closely approximated mid-'70's, NY-centric Punk / New Wave 'artistes', such as Patti Smith, Richard Hell or Lou Reed), Lucas reached legendary status with 2 albums that now command hefty collector's prices for their rarity and uniqueness. His new CD, "Millennial Sequence: Jailbreak!" - while more expansive than his earlier albums (3 songs clock in at over 6 minutes in length), bears the same trademark idiosyncratic – but completely accessible, piano-based pop-rock songs. CD-opener, "Out of Jail," is a well-crafted David Bowie-meets-Leonard Cohen ballad, both urbane and autumnal in its wistfulness, while "Paris of My Heart (Paris de mon Coeur)," with Lucas crooning in a wide-eyed David Byrne-like wonderment, is an impressive 8-minute-plus epic. Other highlights include the soulfully infectious "Nothing But Joy," with Lucas backed by what sounds like a rag-tag street chorus, and the ethereal "Birds of Prey," which takes the singer full-circle, invoking the above-mentioned Patti Smith in its quiet intensity. Twenty-five years in the making, Tom Lucas' new CD, "Millennial Sequence: Jailbreak!," is just in time to re-introduce the enigmatic artist to listeners who would rather forego formulaic pop for genuine and uncompromising - if rough-around-the-edges, artistry.

"From Bach Till Dawn" by Dominik Baumgartner (Classical Artist from Switzerland)

Dominik Baumgartner's latest release album is "From Bach Till Dawn." In this album Baumgartner has created an exceptionally choice collection of Baroque era classical music that is created through a virtual orchestra enhanced by sophisticated computer generated software. The song, "Hänsel und Gretel – A Fairy Tale Opera: Act II - "Introduction: The Witches' Ride," is well orchestrated as the woodwinds and flittering brass section perform with a dynamic intensity. For the "Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048: III. Presto" we find ourselves confronted with an intensely swirling interplay between the strings as a brilliant counterpoint precision runs with powerful and exquisite tonality. The sound textures within the song, "Choral: The Old Forest," is replete with stirring choir like voices and violins that are dark, brooding, and emotive which gives this song a haunting sense of mystery. This album is one in which Baumgartner has embraced the musical world using the aid of a computer and this is no easy feat to accomplish as each song is well produced and well balanced with high quality sound textures. This album is perfect for those who already enjoy Bach, as it is a refreshing new look at Baroque music but isn't a break away from what makes the music so powerfully special to begin with.

"Crash Landing" by Zallen (Adult Rock Artist from Los Angeles, California(CA))

The talented multi-instrumentalist Zallen, has put together a terrific collection of quasi-psychedelic pop/rock on his latest released album, "Crash Landing," that harks back to the days of classic rock, yet still retains a unique voice. "Mission To the Moon" is a fun number with enjoyable lyrics, solid lead vocals, a galloping rhythm, and vivacious drums and guitars. In "Out of Phase" we find more of an antiquated rock and roll beat replete with fiery piano chords and great guitar riffs which compliment Zallen's vocal prowess. "The Last September" is a sharp flowing rock song in which we hear how Zallen's voice delivers strong and melodic tonality. This album is for those who appreciate classic rock music with progressive modern touches and psychedelic expression. It is well produced and each arrangement has a nice dynamic balance between vocals and instruments. Fans of David Bowie or Muse will thoroughly enjoy the well crafted collection of songs of "Crash Landing" by the talented artist Zallen.

If you like pop/rock with bigger-than-life hooks and sing-along choruses that stick with you long after the last note has drifted off into the night then, Red Directors, delivers the goods on their latest CD, "Wave It In," a ten song collection of highly polished power pop gems. "Been Around" and "Pretty Good Odds" demonstrate the band's ballads are no less formidable than their best rockers, despite such defining up tempo performances as "Naked in the Kitchen" and "Woken Eye." Elsewhere, they more than ably show they can cover that middle ground between rocker and ballad too, offering up the terrific "Spin" and the endearing "Amazing," each with the same post-Beatles flourish that infuses the entire CD. RadioIndy is pleased to present Anne Price with a GrIndie Award for the CD "A Few More Miles to Go "

RadioIndy is pleased to present Anne Price with a GrIndie Award for the CD "A Few More Miles to Go "

The accomplished folk singer, Anne Price, returns with her 4th CD, "A Few More Miles to Go," yet another wonderful collection of (mainly) traditional – if lesser exposed, potent folk songs. Opening with a cover of the late, under-appreciated contemporary folk stylist, Kate Wolf (an influence on Nanci Griffith), "The Trumpet Vine" serves as a terrific introduction for a varied set that reveals folk music's rich and evolving traditions. As a veteran and leading exponent of NYC's storied folk heritage, Price's mastery of the music's many styles is unquestioned. As such, her take on the mountain ballad-like "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key," a Woodie Guthrie tune originating from the seminal 1998 album by Billy Bragg & Wilco ("Mermaid Avenue") is true and affecting, as is her a cappella rendition of the English ballad, "The Keys of Canterbury." Elsewhere, Price's mid-range voice (not unlike Griffith's instrument these days) is the perfect vehicle for songs of homespun humor such as "Chocolate," children's sing-alongs songs like "Yucky Bugs," or praises to nature's wonder with "Black Waters." But nowhere is the singer better represented than on her Iris DeMent-like rendition of the playful Janis Ian tune, "My Autobiography." Without a doubt, Anne Price's excellent CD, "A Few More Miles to Go," is a fine addition to the American folk music library; the pairing of a revered songbook with a treasured performer.

"Threshold" by Sugar Blue (Rock Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Threshold" is the latest record from the highly acclaimed recording artist Sugar Blue. It is a record comprised of songs that fuse Rock, Funk, Jazz, and Blues all around Sugar's Grammy-winning harmonica playing and features a cast of highly professional musicians. The track, "Messin' with the kid," is a classic Blues tune with a little bit of exhilaration thrown in and features some gritty and soulful harmonica playing from Sugar. "Noel news" is a funky piece, played with a little bit of Creole influence, that celebrates what Christmas is like down in the crescent city of New Orleans. "Don't call me" is more of a tranquil jazz song in which Sugar lets his harmonica playing be a soulful backup to his vocals as he emotionally croons to the one he loves. This album is one that celebrates and mixes the roots of music that has helped shape the culture in America. Whether you want to dance or be musically inspired, this album will do it for you. 'The Legacy of Hip-Hop & Reggaeton" by Big-J (Hip-Hop Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"The Legacy of Hip-Hop & Reggaeton," the new CD by rapper Big-J, offers a full repertoire of hip-hop and reggaeton sounds, plus various fusions of both genres with other Latin styles (like salsa). With nineteen original tracks, Big-J gives the listener a taste of what real hip-hop - reminiscent of ODB and Bone Thugs and Harmony, truly is. The opening track, "God Show Me Mercy," speaks of the artist's passion for hip-hop and its effect on his life. The beat is solid and the rhymes are fresh and "in your face." It's the epitome of the concept of the album itself. "Fuego" is a fiery Spanglish reggaeton/hip-hop fusion track which is all about dancing; and given the rhythmic detail and catchy lyrics, it'll definitely get the body movin'. Without giving too much away and ruining the excitement of Big-J's CD, the listener needs to make sure they listen to the album in its entirety; especially the last track.

"Pick Your Face Up Off The Floor : The Remixes" by Farrad (Pop Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Pick Your Face Up Off The Floor : The Remixes" by electronic/funk artist Farrad, is a collection of 12 unique dance remixes of the title song, and includes the bonus track, "Praise 2 The DJ." Although the album primarily fits into the dance or techno genre, the influence of 80's rock and pop as well as hip-hop and R&B are a part of the mix. The tracks move from steady beats to ecstatic ones to slower ones, but all charge the listener to get up and dance their heart out. The "Ron Kurti Remix" is particularly unique in that it has the bass line of good Detroit house, but also features the mesmerizing influence of DJ Tiesto which, when brought together, makes for a high energy dance track - for all of six minutes. On the "JJ Appleton Remix," a funky discotheque theme is more prevalent. The mood is bubbly on this track while the bass line remains thumping. This album is a stepping stone for this artist and listeners of the dance genre should keep an eye on him as his music is sure to grow in popularity in the new year.

"Season's Greetings" by Manjia Luo (Easy Listening Artist from Australia)

Manjia Luo's latest release is a holiday-themed album called "Season's Greetings." However, it is not an album filled with your traditional Christmas songs. Instead, it contains a mix of original pieces that express holiday cheer through a tranquil mixing of Western and Eastern sounds. "Seasons's Greetings" is a placid and calming song with beautiful harp playing that comes off as a holiday number, even though it is not one you would have known before. "Tranquil Mood" is a wonderful piano piece featuring playing that evokes the full range of the instrument. "Back to Childhood" is a song that mixes Eastern and Western influences in its use of violin, beautifully telling a wordless story through melody alone. Manjia Luo's "Season's Greetings" explores the quieter and more peaceful side of holiday-inspired music with grace and delicacy. It's perfect for those who enjoy new-age relaxation music, or for those who would like excellent background music for a warm winter's get-together.

"The Face of My Love" by Ken Greves (Jazz Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

On his new CD, "The Face of My Love," inspired Jazz singer, Ken Greves, exhibits the class and tastefulness that is pure, traditional Jazz. The accompanying band is comprised of light percussion and a very skilled piano, leaving room for the rich and seasoned tone of the vocalist. On the track "Where Have You Been," the singer plays the role of a bit of a smart alec in his delivery as the piano plays with sass in the background, providing an appropriate accompaniment. The classic, "Witchcraft-that Old Black Magic," was wonderfully redone; Greves' delivers a vocal performance as authentic as the original. It's completely upscale and exquisitely done down to the last note. At the close of the album a track titled "Don't Look Back" is sure to have the listener wanting much more from this fine performer. It is a ballad that exemplifies the talent and vocal range of the artist, with wonderful piano accompaniment. If you like small jazz combo vocals, Ken Greves' "The Face of My Love" CD is a must to check out.

"Raise It Up Bring It Down" by Beth Schafer (Acoustic Artist from Florida(FL))

Fittingly, Beth Schafer reaches new heights on her latest CD, "Raise it Up Bring It Down," a spirited and engaging 14-track album that finds the accomplished singer-songwriter continuing to hone her craft with the skill of a confident artist. With contemporary folk and California-esque folk-rock (a la The Eagles, Shawn Colvin) underpinnings, Schafer's honey-toned voice delivers original songs of deep faith and abiding hope that are as tuneful as they are meaningful. CD-opener, "Raise it Up", kicks it off with a mid-tempo rocker featuring meaty lead guitar licks and the kind of hook Melissa Etheridge used to reel off in her sleep. The solemn and beautiful, "Prayer of the Workin' Man," is stripped down to bare essentials, but no less powerful in its message and delivery. "Modim Anachnu Lach" trades off between a Hebrew chorus and English verses in a lively song of spiritual triumph, while "Adama" is like a modern sing-along, reminiscent of - but more rhythmic, than campfire standard, "Wimoweh." With catchy, smart and uplifting compositions, a wonderful voice that never wavers in its commitment to the song, and a band that's as tasteful as it is proficient, Beth Schafer's new CD, "Raise it Up Bring It Down," is a winning combination of artistry and sheer talent.

"Deep Purple Dreams" by Julian Yeo (Jazz Artist from New York City, New York(NY))

"Deep Purple Dreams," the recently released CD by talented Jazz vocalist Julian Yeo, is a nostalgic throwback to the great era of crooners such as Bing Crosby. Yeo's voice is articulate and delivers a soft and stunning ambiance with spectacular style and grace. His songs are well crafted and the instruments that accompany his voice are crisp and clean. "Close Your Eyes" is a dreamy song with laid back vocals that compliment the charming lyrics. The syncopated rhythms of "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas" and "Too Darn Hot" cascades around the alluring vocal with hypnotic energy. "September Song" displays expressive vocals that swirl around the emotive and thought provoking piano. "Pale Rider" by Hitman Blues Band (Blues Artist from New York(NY))

The Hitman Blues Band spins out another fantastic album, "Pale Rider," that offers generous helpings of mostly original Blues/Rock compilations. The lead vocal impresses the listener with rootsy and melodic tonality while the instruments drive home a rush of rocking energy. You'll be hooked right from the first song, "Your Blues" with the dynamic beats and catchy lyrics. Another song, "Red Hook" runs full throttle as the guitar runs with maximum fury on the solo. Offering up a different sound, "Miss Catherine," shows off some nice horn hooks that interplays with the vocal and is a treasure of a song that displays a lively bouncy beat. The title track, "Pale Rider," is splashed with nice Hammond organ chords that compliment the razor sharp guitar lead. If you're a fan of Johnny Winter or just like some great Rocking Blues, then "Pale Rider," is just the album you'll want to hear.
